Dear Parents/Guardians and Friends,
Happy Second Quarter of this Magnificent Academic School Year! We made it to Quarter II—only by His Grace (James 4:6), Hallelujah! Parent-Teacher conferences are happening this week, Thursday only, for all grade levels, and I am hopeful you will have substantive conversations with your child’s Teacher to align learning objectives and goals. As we continue to work together to broaden the academic scope of each child at Sonshine, I ask that you remember the importance of the choice you made to send your child to a uniform school. The impactful thing about children wearing uniforms is that it prepares them for the Professional world of intentional boundaries. Making the mental shift now is foundational to the requirements that our children will face as they are learning to become responsible income-earning citizens. I ask you please take the time to revisit our uniform code and feel free to contact our office if you have questions on how to obtain vouchers to receive financial assistance with purchasing any item associated with the uniform. Sweaters and layered clothing are recommended as the weather continues to become colder.
Special thank-you to our Faculty, Staff, and Parents for your support during our Clergy Appreciation celebration program. It was great to have you encourage our Faith Leaders to continue making a positive difference in our community. I also want to express my sincere gratitude for your support of our Fall Festival event!
Starting Friday, November 7th, Sonshine will permit students to participate in a dress-down fundraiser. Students may begin dressing down on Friday’s ONLY, if they bring $1, to participate. Without bringing the $1, the children may not participate, and parents will be called to either bring them the correct uniform or pick them up for violating the school’s dress code. School Dress-Down Day fundraiser guidelines are mentioned in the enclosed flier, as there are restrictions on what the children may wear on these particular days. Also, please know that Administration may take away dress-down day upon their discretion, should the need arise.
We have a variety of ways for you to engage with us at Sonshine during the month of November, from our First Quarter Awards Ceremony, Veterans Day Program, and Career Day! If you know of any businesses that would like to join in our Career Day, please have them reach out to Ms. Wallace at kwallace@scaoh.us for details on how to participate.
